Lambert's Cafe a.k.a. Throwed Rolls

If you've ever watched the Travel Channel's Top 10 Placed to PIG OUT, you've heard of this place in Sikeston, MO. Eating here is an experience. First, the portions are so gastronomically large that we took home enough 'to go' boxes that we had an entire meal the next day from the leftovers. The signature serving method for the rolls involves the server throwing them across the dining room toward you in a graceful arc that hopefully doesn't end in your drink. Then other servers bring around other goodies such as sorghum molasses for the roll, black eyed peas, macaroni and tomatoes, fried potatoes and onions, and fried okra. Now Grandma Mimi's favorite food in the whole wide world might possibly be fried okra and she is frequently disappointed in the lack of visits from the okra server. Then Wednesday's server tried to walk by Mimi without refilling her stash of okra, assuming that a woman of her maturity could not possibly want more than 4 servings of okra. This misunderstanding being corrected, the server did finally manage to 'out okra' Mimi for the night. She finally had to say no.

David's favorite part of Lambert's was without a doubt, the model train that runs along a track near the ceiling. This train traverses two dining rooms and the waiting area so it's not always in view. David insisted on standing up to see the train better every time it came around, which was about once every two minutes. We thought that once the food arrived he would not notice them as frequently as his back was to its entrance into our dining room, but his big brother didn't want him to miss out on a single pass of the train and would point it out to him every time.

Everyone was well behaved. What a fun night! The boys were both full and tired when we arrived back at Mimi and Fred's house and slept hard. YAY!
